Indigenous Leadership at the Frontline: Why Climate Solutions Must Start with Forest Protection [SF Climate Week]
Interpreter for a presentation by representatives from Peru and Brazil in regards to showcase how frontline communities are securing millions of hectares of rainforest by merging ancient wisdom with modern tools — from securing land titles to drone surveillance and AI-driven monitoring. It showed how surrounding Indigenous communities are becoming the first line of defense for their isolated brothers and sisters, creating a powerful model of protection that safeguards both vulnerable peoples and the forests they depend on. The “Isolated Indigenous Peoples’ Corridors initiative” was the focus of the event.
Agricultural Institute of Marin’s Center for Food and Agriculture
Interpreter for a presentation on the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM)’s development of a future farmers market site located at the Marin Civic Center Campus: A permanent outdoor home for the Marin Farmers Market at AIM’s future Center for Food and Agriculture. (Marin County Approves $2.5 Million Grant to Accelerate AIM’s Center for Food and Agriculture. A county investment in environmentally responsible infrastructure supports economic and agricultural growth).
Rights, Choices and Connections Symposium at Pomeroy Center, SF
Interpreter for a Resource Fair and event for people with disabilities, their families, staff, and supporters of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties to learn about services, choices, resources, and community, with presentations by and for Self-Advocates, a Resource Fair, and Social Mixer. I was also in charge of Russian and Korean interpreting coverage.
